Silent Thunder Memorial

Friends,

This has not received much attention, but tomorrow @ 1000 hours, I will act as MC to dedicate the SILENT THUNDER Memorial right here in good ole Manassas! Needless to say, I was very honored to asked. The Mayor and other officials will be present. The VFW and Vietnam Veterans of America are the supporting organizations. I am a member of both organizations.

A local Iranian immigrant businessman who is a Gravestone Cutter by trade decided, on his own nickel, that he would get this going and finish it if necessary. This initial Pic is attached and you can read more about it with the URL below. The article written by Bennie Scarton is a well known local article author for the Potomac News.

I spoke to Kevin today and it would bring tears to all our eyes to hear him speak about what American has done to make his old area safe from terrorists and criminals. He tells me he has the support of the American Iranian, Iraqi and Afghani communities.

He plans to engrave each American service person's name, rank, home town, date and place of death and a picture [provided the family agrees] who has given their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He is hoping the American Government will find a fitting place for the
memorial. It will not deter Kevin however. He told me he did not want to
wait 30 years for someone to do something. This would make President Bush proud and one hopes ALL senators and Congresspersons as well.

Donations can be made to:

SILENT THUNDER Memorial Fund
8790 Centerville, Road
Manassas, VA 20110

I can not tell you how pleased I am that a Manassas Business person, has picked up the ball [and he is a great gravestone cutter] right here in Prince William County, the Commonwealth of Virginia. How utterly fitting and proper!
